About The Position

The Clinical Education Integration Director will assist in the development, integration, and instruction of the ARCHES curriculum with respect to clinical cases. This position will work collaboratively with other medical educators including but not limited to foundational science, clinical, and Whole Health educators. Effort will entail the de novo design, revision, delivery, and overall coordination of medical cases within the medical curriculum. This position will be charged with promoting integration of multiple scientific and clinical disciplines for robust and accurate case design to be implemented at defined points within the ARCHES curriculum. In particular, this educator will routinely assist the Director of Clinical Skills and ARCHES Curricular Assistant Deans to properly equip and develop faculty in the evaluation, assessment, and mentoring of students. They will directly interface with students facilitating instruction, providing feedback, and assessing trainee performance.

Rank/Classification

The position is open at the Assistant Professor, Associate Professor, or Professor levels, depending on experience and qualifications. The faculty appointment will be within the department of medical education.

Major Responsibilities/Essential Functions Specific to the Position:

Develop processes and timelines for case design, refinement, and deployment.

  • Create strategies to unify case formatting for continuity throughout the ARCHES curriculum and across courses.
  • Participate in the development of integrative learning objectives and assessment tools that align with cases.
  • Assess and mentor students within a variety of instructional environments including the clinical skills center and formal classroom setting.
  • Assist faculty with meeting ARCHES course-related objectives.
  • Serve as a clinical educator and medical practice mentor to students and faculty across the ARCHES curriculum.
  • Contribute to the design and implementation of education program quality improvement efforts.
  • Actively participate in faculty meetings, faculty development workshops, and service-related activities.
  • Perform other duties as needed.

Minimum Education

M.D., D.O., or equivalent terminal degree from an accredited medical institution.

Minimum Work Experiences

  • Three years of experience delivering instruction in the realms of foundational science, clinical skills, or clerkship training within an accredited medical program.
  • Ten years of professional experience as a practicing physician
  • Familiarity with composing clinical vignettes or cases for any level of medical education.
  • Experience delivering content via active learning modalities (e.g. TBL, PBL, etc.). Development of instructional materials/sessions that integrate foundational science with clinical content.

Preferred Work Experiences and Qualifications

  • MD/DO licensed or eligible to practice medicine in Arkansas
  • Evidence of teaching excellence in higher education
  • Participation in academic faculty development programs
